.This question was often asked by many Chinese beginners. Generally I cannot answer you in one sentence. According to our experience, I have to ask you the following questions at first.
1, What is your purpose of learning Chinese? For Interests, business, exam, job position, etc
For different purpose, you will spend different time percentage on Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
2, How long time will you spend for studying Chinese in one week?
3, Your budget of learning Chinese?
For different budget, you should choose different learning method and course package. If you have enough budgets, you can take more classes with teachers. You will have more opportunities to practice with teachers and the other students, and teachers will answer your questions and correct you soon. This kind of plan with more classes is higher efficient. You can spend less time passing a level. If you have not enough budgets, you can study more courseware and textbooks by yourself. Without help and teaching from teachers, of course, you maybe need to spend more time passing a level.
4, What level you want to get to? (Refer to Level Map)
This question is also very important. You have to make sure at the first time. We can give you a similar sample. If we want to learn mathematics and you ask us the same question, we also need to ask you: what level you want to achieve? For obtaining Nobel Mathematics Awards ? Maybe you need to spend your whole life. To know how to count from 1 to 20 ? Half an hour is enough.
5, Different people have different learning efficiency. Quick learners or Slow learners. But after we make clear above questions, we can give you an average time.
