Cherry Tomatoes- Safeguard for Eyes

Focusing on computer screen for a long period can cause dry and itching eyes and tiredness. Sun Shuxia, chairman of Nutrition Safety Committee of China Health Care Association, reminds the computer users that eating cherry potato, that is, the small potatoes, can relieve dry eyes.

Focusing on a computer screen for long periods of time can result in dry eyes. This is because the light wave of the computer screen can damage the photoactive rhodopsin- the compound of vitamin A and protein in the retina. If long continued, symptoms of tiredness, increasing gums and dryness will occur.

We can compare eyes as cameras and rhodopsin as film. With no film, no pictures can be taken.

In this sense, to get enough ‘film’, the rhodopsin, its compound vitamin A must be sufficient.

Small as it is, cherry potato is a superb warehouse of vitamins.

Cherry potato is among the top in fruits and vegetables in terms of vitamin A content. It is also rich in vitamin C and P which clean out the free radical and possess high antioxidation ability. They can protect the DNA of the cells against genetic mutation.

Moreover, the pectin contained in cherry potato can increase the firmness of skin. So, eating cherry potato as snacks is good for both beauty and eyes.

Cherry potato is better to eat with skin. If you are worried about the residue pesticide, rub it with salt first and rinse with clean water. The nutrients contained will get loss if stored for long time, so try to eat it fresh.
