Danish jazz quartet Mark Solborg 4 dazzled Expo visitors last night by presenting a two-hour concert at the Europe Square.

The band played their most popular tunes as well as new creations at the concert, which was hosted by Christopher Bo Bramsen, Denmark’s Commissioner General to the Expo. Bramsen is a jazz fan and a big supporter of this band.

The band consists of guitarist and composer Mark Solborg, tenor sax and clarinet Anders Banke, bass Jeppe Skovbakke, and drummer Bjorn Heeboll. Solborg, the soul of the band, has been Grammy-nominated and won a jazz award presented by the Danish Jazz Federation.

The band scheduled only one performance at the Expo.

The concert was part of the Denmark Pavilion’s musical programme “Mermaid Music,” under which 26 talented Danish bands, choirs and orchestras are giving performances through the Expo. The music, mostly modern music, includes various genres such as jazz, blues, world music, rock, pop and electro.
