S: Nimen hao, wo shi Stuart. Women kaishi. Jin tian women xue di ji ke? So today what lesson do we learn?
M: Jin tian women xue di si shi jiu ke.
S: Di si shi jiu ke. Lesson 49.
M: 我们到了餐馆 women dao le canguan.
S: Na hen hao, yinwei wo e le!
M: Hungry, as usual!
Waitress: 你们好!你们几位呀?
M: 两位。
Waitress: 请坐这边。
S: 谢谢。
S: Now to ask for the menu and order some food.
M: Repeat everything. Try to guess the meaning of new words.
S: Miss, we want to order food. 小姐,我们要点菜, women yao dian cai.
WTRSS: 好,here’s the menu. 给您菜单,gei nin caidan.

M: xiexie. Stuart, what do you fancy eating? 你想吃什么? ni xiang chi shenme?
S: Wo bu zhidao.
M: Here’s the menu. 这是菜单,zhe shi caidan.
S: Hao, 我看一看, wo kan yi kan. So many dishes! 这么多菜, zheme duo cai!
M: 对,很多菜, hen duo cai. There are cold dishes, 有凉菜,liang cai; hot dishes, 热菜, re cai; meat dishes 荤菜 hun cai; vegetables, 素菜,sucai; and fish.还有鱼, hai you yu.
S: Tai hao le! Cold dishes, liang cai.
M: Hot dishes, re cai;
S: Meat, rou;
M: Veggies su cai;
S: And fish, yu. Let’s order immediately, ok? Women mashang dian cai, hao bu hao?
M: Only after we’ve gone through the new stuff, Stuart.
S: Hao, now the new stuff. Miss, we want to order food. 小姐,我们要点菜.
M: women yao dian cai. Women yao, YAO yao, to want. Women yao, we want.
S: 点 DIAN dian, ‘to order’, or ‘select’. 菜CAI cai, is ‘food’, or ‘dish’. Dian cai, to order the dish. But we need a 菜单.
M: 菜单, dan DAN dan, means ‘list’. So what is a caidan, a ‘dish list’? Mei cuo. Cai dan, menu.
S: So many dishes! zheme duo cai!
M: Cold dishes, 凉菜,liang LIANG liang, 2nd tone, liang, means ‘cold’. Liangcai.
hot dishes, 热菜, re RE re, hot. Recai, recai.
S: Hun cai, hun HUN hun, hun cai, meat dishes, hun cai. Vegetables, sucai, 素SU su. Sucai – vegetable dishes.
M: And fish. 还有鱼, hai you, HAI YOU, hai you, ‘and there’s’, and there’s fish. hai you yu.鱼YU yu, 2nd tone, yu, fish. By the way, we never say ‘yu cai’, just yu.
S: Ok. Time to go. Zai jian.

语言详解

在这段对话中I guess not.是回应上一句否定句,等于说明I guess you don’t make idle threats.换句话说,如果上一句没有否定not 语词的话,就派不上用场了。

turn into a…on someone在……面前表现得……】

当你眼前的这个人,在个性或是应对反应上,突然表现得跟平常完全不一样,让你对这突然的转变感到有些不习惯,这时你就可以用这个句型来表达你的想法。

A: Could I treat you to dinner tonight?

我今晚可以请你吃晚饭吗?

B: Don’t go turning into a gentleman on me. I won’t know what to do.

你别突然表现得那么绅士。我都不知道该怎么办了。
