The Barcelona Aeronautics and Space Association is seeking closer cooperation with Shanghai, which contributes significantly to Chinese aerospace projects, one of the association’s top officials said yesterday at a forum at the World Expo.
Gloria Garcia Cuadrado, director of the association, said developments are still at an early stage but that both sides “have a culture of open-mindedness and hard work.”
Shanghai can improve skills ranging from design, engineering and airport planning in cooperation with Barcelona – a key aerospace equipment manufacturing base for the European Union.
Zhang Jingpei, a senior engineer with the local astronautical society, said China excels at plane and aircraft assembly while Spain has many advantages in designing human-oriented aircraft cabins.
Another important part of the cooperation involves training Chinese pilots in Barcelona, officials said.
