Chinese News – Brazil touches upon city pulse at Expo

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Football fans and samba buff will be delighted by World Expo 2010′s Brazil Pavilion, where they can enjoy samba shows and even meet the country’s well-known football players.

It is the first time Brazil’s private sector and government work together in an Expo, Alessandro Teixeira, chairman of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency and commissioner general of Brazil, said today at the pavilion.

Brazilian organizers kept secret about who will visit the pavilion as a football ambassador, while Teixeira promised a big surprise and invited Chinese people to explore. “Chinese visitors can visit and see who will come,” Teixeira said.

Ronaldo Luiz Nazario De Lima, better known as Ronaldo, will be the most possible, Ricardo Schaefer, deputy commissioner general of the pavilion, said previously.

“The pavilion’s exhibition is the largest Brazil ever had in an Expo, not only in terms of the scale, but also for the involvement of people,” Teixeira said. The pavilion has more than 300 staff members.

The budget of the 2,000-square metre pavilion is US$35 million.

The pulsing cities of Brazil and the integration between the nature of Brazil and its cities are the highlighted topics of the presentation, Teixeira said, adding that the diversity of Brazil’s culture is represented.

Visitors will be able to dance samba under the direction of famous Brazilian artists or try to compete with the country’s well-known football players in a virtual game, according to the exhibition plan.

The nation will show off the cultural diversity of Brazilian cities, their dynamic and the ever-present football with the theme “Pulsing Cities: Feel the Life of Brazilian Cities.”

A 180-degree circular screen is a feature of the pavilion, which displays the cities of Brazil. Matches of the upcoming World Cup in South Africa will be broadcast.
