Beijing Olympic – David Tao to hold concert in Beijing

Friday, April 9th, 2010

The long awaited fans of David Tao in Beijing can clap their hands now. David Tao’s world concert tour will soon arrive in Beijing after the last one in 2005. He’ll surprise Beijing with a 12 minute long piece exclusively for Beijing at his concert on March 1st.

Talented David Tao is entitled the godfather of R& B in China. As a devoted singer and song writer, Tao is very strict about his album. Fans usually have to wait for a long time for his new works, let alone a live concert. The rather low-profile Tao has created many popular songs. He still considers music as the main theme of his concert.

“I think this will be a special concert. We have seen too many flaunty, glaring concerts nowadays. But this one will still focus on music, say; it’s like a rock music concert in 70s. I put music, affection and interaction as the priorities.”

The only exception is David Tao and his team will put in a lot effort on stage lighting.

“We spent a lot of time designing the stage lighting. We added a lot of disco light, since we think the combination of music and light is very important.”

What’s more, many of Tao’s old songs are enriched with new lives by mixing them with different instruments and composition.

“80% of my old songs are remixed. For this concert, I spent a week in Singapore with my musical director to think how to make it. And it’s the first time I will invite dancers onto the stage, since I hope there are some body language on the stage. I also created a 12-minute long piece for Beijing’s concert. I’m not going to tell much about it, just hope it will give people a surprise that day.”

As a confident singer, Tao never invites any guests to his concert. He insists that concert is supposed to be his own music.

“Guests will interrupt the process of a concert, thus I never invite any guest. Probably, some singers are doing it for the box office, but I think it’s a little bit rude. When people are buying tickets to my concert, I think they want to see me.”

Tao’s world tour will then visit Hong Kong, Singapore and some other cities in China after Beijing, and is expected to come to an end around June. Scheduled to release a new album after the tour concert, Dao will switch himself to being a director, giving his full attention to it.

The preparation of the movie has already begun, in the hope pf meeting audience in 2009. After the concert, I will transfer my focus to that. I hope I can make it one thing after another one.”

The concert will be held at Capital Indoor Stadium.
