秦朝末年
During the late years of
the Qin Dynasty,
有一个农民起义领袖叫陈胜
there was a peasant uprising leader,
called Chen Sheng.
他年轻时曾经给人家做雇农
When he was young, he had worked
as a farmhand,
替别人耕地
tilling the land for other people.
每天都工作得非常辛苦
He worked very hard every day.
有一次 他们在田埂上休息
One day, there were having a
rest in the fields,
唉 真是太累了
He was very tired.
是啊 吃都吃不饱
Yes, he didn’t have enough to eat,
哪有力气干活啊
how could he have the strength
to work?
真是不公平
It was really unfair, he thought.
我们这么辛苦 天天干活
As he worked so hard every day,
却吃不饱穿不暖
he remained hungry and poorly clothed.
有些人什么都不干
But there were ones, who did no work
倒在那里悠闲地过好日子
but lived a comfortable life.
唉 没办法啊 谁让咱们命苦呢
He believed he couldn’t change it
since he was born to be poor.
如果哪天我们当中有人富贵了
“If one day, any one of us
makes a big fortune,
可不能忘掉大家
he shouldn’t forget the others.
你给人家当雇农 怎么会富贵呢
Since I work for others as a farmhand,
how can I get rich?

in Hong Kong want to learn Mandarin
一方面是因为他们现在工作
because, on the one hand,
和内地的交流越来越多
they have more contacts with
the mainland,

文化和历史非常感兴趣

culture and history.

Which wrong word?
我在节目中把“煮”一壶咖啡
In the program, I said “Pao” (steep
in water) a pot of coffee
说成了泡一壶咖啡
instead of “Zhu” (boil ) a pot
of coffee.
那在生活中一般是不那么用动词的
In real life, we don’t use the
word that way.
只能说是泡一壶茶
We can only say to “Pao” a
pot of tea.
说到现磨咖啡我们用的动词是“煮”
For non-instant ground coffee,
we use the verb “Zhu”.
说到速溶咖啡我们用的动词是“冲”
For instant coffee, we use “Chong”
(mix with hot water).
