哟 好大的蒙古包啊

Wow, what a big Mongol yurt!

它啊号称天下第一包 里面一根支柱都没有

Billed as the largest yurt in the world,

but there isn’t a single pole inside.

真了不起

It’s really amazing.

快乐学汉语 轻松过周末

Learn Chinese the fun way.

And spend the weekend in relaxation.

欢迎来到《快乐中国》周末版节目

Welcome to this weekend edition

of Happy China.

我是快乐的韩佳

I am the happy Han Jia.

我是快乐的大牛

And I am the happy Daniel.

来 和我们一起在美丽的内蒙古

Please join us spending an

enjoyable weekend

度过一个愉快的周末吧

in this beautiful Inner Mongolia.

韩佳 这几天除了赏美景学汉语之外

Han Jia, in addition to enjoying the scenery

and learning Chinese in the past few days,

我还有另一个收获

I have gained something else.

哦 什么收获啊

What’s that?

我能听懂蒙语

Now I can understand Mongolian.

真的啊

Really?

里边的几个词

A few words.

嗨 那你说说哪几个字啊

Hey, what are those words?

比如 浩特就是城市的意思

For instance, “hot”, meaning a city.

呼和浩特就是青色城市

Hohhot means a blue city.

锡林浩特就是高原城市

Xilinhot means a plateau city.

还有包克图 就是有鹿的地方

Boktu (Baotou) means a place with deer.

嗯 不错 完全正确

Yeah, not bad. All correct.

就是不知道这鄂尔多斯是什么意思

But I don’t know what Ordos means.

想知道吗

You really want to know?

那就要看看我们今天的出行指南

Then watch today’s itinerary.

鄂尔多斯市位于内蒙古自治区西南部

Ordos lies in southwestern Inner Mongolia,

西临宁夏回族自治区

bordering Ningxia Autonomous

Region to the west

南与陕西省毗邻 总面积8.7万平方公里

and Shaanxi to the south, with a total

area of 87,000 square kilometers.

哦 对了 鄂尔多斯就是众多宫帐的意思

Oh, Ordos means a place of palatial yurts.

这下您知道了吧

Now you understand?

看到这样的景色 您能想到这里以前是风沙弥漫

Seeing the scenery, can you imagine

植被稀疏的沙漠吗

it was a desert with sandstorms

years ago?

经过人们十多年的开发和建设

After a decade of development,

the national-level

中国国家级生态示范区恩格贝旅游区

Engbei Tourism Area has taken shape,

已经成为了沙海中一颗璀璨的绿宝石

like a brilliant gemstone in the vast desert.

您在这里可以体验人类治理沙漠

The visitors can witness local efforts in

dealing with desertification

保护环境的丰硕成果

and protecting the environment

当然 也可以像我俩一样 亲自参与治沙

And, like me, they can also do their bit

to control desertification.

虽然我们只是种了一棵小树

Although we planted only a small tree here,

不过还是挺有成就感的嘛

we do have a sense of achievement.

以后我们会常来这儿的

We’ll come back here often in the future.

您呢

What about you?

Look, please.

这就是在夏秋季节举行的那达慕

This is the Nadam Fair held annually

between summer and autumn.

怎么样

Well,

有兴趣也来比试比试男儿三艺呢

are you interested to have a try

at the men’s triathlon here?

俗话说重在参与

What’s important is participation.

一不留神拿个冠军也说不定哪

You may win a championship

before you know it.

哎 大牛

Hey, Daniel,

你这是要干吗去啊

what are you going to do now?

我呀 到处走一走 四处转一转

Me? I want to take a stroll around here.

可是你又不熟悉这里的路 走丢了怎么办啊

But you are not familiar with the

roads here. What if you get lost?

不怕 有它在嘛

I am not afraid. I have this with me.

啊 它

What? This?

对啊 不是有个成语叫老马识途嘛

Yeah. Isn’t there an idiom known as

“lao ma shi tu”?

公元663年的春天

In the spring of 663 AD,

齐桓公应燕国的要求

At the request of Yan Kingdom,

出兵攻打入侵燕国的山戎军队

King Huangong of Qi Kingdom dispatched

troops to fight Shanrong troops invading Yan.

可当他们赶到燕国时

When they arrived in Qi,

山戎军队已经掠夺了许多财宝

the Shanrong invaders had fled to

the State of Guzhu

逃到了孤竹国

with treasures they snatched from Qi.

大王 山戎军队已经向东边的孤竹国逃跑了

“Your Majesty, the Shanrong army has

fled to Guzhu in the east.”

既然这样 咱们就收兵回国吧

“If that’s the case, let’s retreat and

return home.”

大王

“Your Majesty,

我觉得咱们应该借此机会攻打孤竹国

I suggest we take advantage of

this opportunity

一旦取胜 我国北方从此也就安定了

to attack Guzhu.”

嗯 好主意 将士们 向孤竹国进军

“Good idea. I order the army to

advance on Guzhu.”

于是齐军开始攻打孤竹国

Thus the Qi army attacked Guzhu.

经过一段时间的奋战 齐军终于取得了胜利

After a fierce battle, the Qi army won.

可当他们回国的时候 这里已经是冬天了

But when they started their journey home,

it was already winter.

山谷里草木凋零 雪花飞舞

Grass had long withered and it snowed

heavily in the valley.

将士们根本无法识别来时的路

The Qi troops could hardly find

their way home.

在这个季节 如果几天走不出山谷的话

If they were unable to leave the

valley soon,

大军就会被困死在这里

they would end up frozen to death.

面对这种局面 管仲思索了很久

Confronted by this situation,

Guan Zhong thought deeply.

狗离家很远都能找到回家的路

“A dog away from home can find his way home.

那军中的老马也应该有认识路的本领

The old horses in the army would

also find their way home.

对呀 不妨试一试啊

Yes. Why not give them a try?”

大王 我觉得如果狗可以认路的话

“You Majesty, if a dog can recognize

his way home,

那军中的老马也应该有认路的本领

the old horses in the army will also

be able to find their home way.

咱们可以试着让它带大军走出这山谷

We should let him lead us out

of the valley.”

好主意

Good idea.

于是齐桓公听取了他的建议

Thus King Huangong of Qi

took his advice.

挑出了几匹老马

The few old horse they chose

果然在它们的带领下 大军走出了山谷

did lead the Qi troops out the valley

顺利回到了齐国

and successfully returned to

the State of Qi.

观众朋友们

you good news on time.

大牛 又有好消息啦

Daniel, good news again?

没错

Exactly.

但是这个好消息先不说

But I’d rather say it later.

你先给我说说几个中国的俗语

Would you please say a few fold adages?

啊 你这突然问我我还真想不起来

Ah! You asked me so suddenly I am

simply unable to call back any to mind.

其实我刚才要说的那件好事就是

Actually the good news I wanted

to say just now

刘先生寄给我们的这本书

was about this book Mr. Liu sent us.

观众朋友们 《中国民间俗语集粹》

Audience friends, “Chinese Folk Adages”.

这本书是河南内乡的刘文景朋友送给我们的

It was sent by Mr. Liu Wenjing from

Neixiang of Henan Province.

他在信中说

He said in his letter

他用了十年的时间收集整理了这本书

he took ten years to collect and

compile this book.

书中收集了万余条中国的民间俗语

The book contains over 10,000

Chinese folk adages.

他希望通过我们的节目

He hopes, through this program,

可以把这些俗语陆续地教给大家

we can teach our audience how

to use them

这样就能让海内外的观众朋友们更多地

so as to help our audiences both at home and

abroad to better understand

了解中国人的生活情况

the life of Chinese people

看来观众朋友们真是为我们想得很周到

This shows our audience is very

thoughtful about our program.

是啊 在这里我们要谢谢刘先生

Here, we are extending our

thanks to Mr. Liu.

好了

Now, we’d like

接下来我们就要回答观众朋友们提出的

to answer some viewers’ questions

words having

多音字的问题了

multiple pronunciations.

韩佳 今天我们要讲的是哪一个字呢

Han Jia, which is the word we should

talk about today?

处字

The word “chu”.

这个字既可以读处 也可以读处

This word can be pronounced “chu”,

both 4th tone and 3rd tone.

那我读几个 你看看对不对啊

Let me say a few to see if I am correct.

处分

“chu fen” (4th tone).

不对

Not correct.

那设身处地呢

Then what about ‘she shen chu

di” (3rd tone)?

也不对

Not correct either.

那这两个字的读音应该怎么分呢

Then how should I distinguish

the two tones?

按词性来分

Based on the parts of speech,

这个字做动词的时候一般念第三声

the word is pronounced 3rd tone as verb.

比如说处理 处分

for instance, “chu li” (handle or deal with)

and “chu fen” (punish)

还有处置 处境

And also “chu zhi” (deal with) and

“chu jing” (circumstances one is in).

嗯 没错

Yes, exactly.

当这个字做名词的时候就要读第四声了

When used as noun, it should be

pronounced 4th tone.

比如说处所 住处 处长

For instance, “zhu chu” (place to live)

and “chu zhang” (departmental chief).

还有处处有亲人里面的处

And also the “chu” in “chu chu you qin ren”

(There are caring people everywhere)

表示方位 是名词 所以应该念处

means position as noun. It is also

pronounced 4th tone.

没错 第四声

Exactly, the 4th tone.

好了 今天学的内容可真不少了

Well, today we’ve learned a lot.

您一定要记住哦

You must try to remember them.

下面一起来看看今天成语猜猜看的内容

Chinese Conversation – lesson 671

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Sara: That’s right. And besides, our babies will be at lower risk for hereditary disease because we’re an interracial couple.
Jin: Is that so?
Sara: Yes. Most hereditary diseases occur in small, closed populations.
Jin: That’s not true at all. A parent with Huntington’s has a fifty percent chance of passing it on.
Sara: Well, I don’t think either of us have that.
Jin: How would you know? It usually doesn’t kick in till you’re in your 40s! I might have it!
Sara: Well I guess we’ll find out about you soon enough, then.
Jin: Don’t make fun of me! And what about Tay-Sachs? Ron is Jewish!
