along quite many streets here.

这里写着真老卜恒顺公司的梳篦

It’s written that combs produced

by Zhen Lao Bu Hengshun Company

获得了1915年世博会的银奖

won a silver award at a 1915 world expo

还有1926年世博会的金奖

and a gold award at a 1926 world expo.

看来这常州的梳篦果然是名不虚传

It shows that Changzhou combs

do have a well-deserved reputation.

Changzhou boasts not only these

fancy combs,

they stop on top of a cloud and

take a look downward.

只见东海浩淼无垠 波涛汹涌

What they see is the vast swirling

East Sea.

吕洞宾看了许久

Lǚ Dongbin gazes for a long while,

灵机一动 对众仙说

An idea occurs to him and he says

to the other immortals:

今天要是乘云从东海上空而过

“If we all rode the clouds to cross the sea,

便显不出我们各自的本事

we wouldn’t show the ability of each of us.

不如将我们各自的法宝投入大海

I suggest we plunge our magic treasures

into the ocean

让这些宝物载着我们过海

and let the magic treasures carry us

岂不更好

across the ocean.”

众神仙听了拍手称好

All the other immortals clap their

hands in approval.

于是 他们按下云头

Thus they all lower themselves

beneath the clouds

各自将自己的宝物投下海去

and plunge their magic treasures

into the sea.

铁拐李坐在他的龙头拐杖上

Tieguai Li sits on his dragon-headed

walking stick

众神也纷纷站在自己的宝物上

while the other immortals stand on

their treasures.

顺利渡过了东海

The all crossed the sea successfully.
