因为这里有一座千年古镇 龙门镇
because of its 1000-year-old town,
Longmen.
龙门镇始建于1200年前
Longmen was first built 1,200 years ago.
是三国东吴大帝
It is the dwelling place of the descendants
of Sun Quan, the King of the State of
孙权后裔的聚居地
Wu during the Three Kingdom Period.
镇上现有2000户人家
There are some 2,000 households
living in the town.
90％以上姓孙
Over 90% of them have the family
named Sun.

The town’s most striking feature to a visitor
一定是它那迷宫一样的建筑布局
is definitely its labyrinthine lanes.
镇上现存的大都是明清以来的古建筑

and Tonglu.

南北朝时期
During the Southern and Northern
Dynasties,
有一位叫江淹的人
there is a man called Jiang Yan,
他是当时有名的文学家
who is a well-known literary writer
of the day.
江淹年轻的时候很有才气
He is very talented when he is young.
不仅文章写得好 画也做得妙
He is good both at writing and painting.
可是当他年老的时候
But when he gets old,
拿着笔 总是思考半天
he often ponders with a writing
brush in his hand,
也写不出任何东西
unable to figure out anything to
write about.
人们都传说
As legend has it,
有一天
one day,
江淹在凉亭里睡觉 做了一个梦
Jiang An dozes off and has a dream
under his pavilion.
梦中有一个叫郭璞的人对他说
In his dream, a man called Guo Pu,
says to him:
我有一支笔
“I have a writing brush
放在你那里已经很多年了
placed at your place for many years.
现在应该是还给我的时候了
It’s time for you to return it to me.”
江淹摸了摸怀里
Jiang An feels inside his jacket
果然掏出一支五色笔来
and surely pulls out a five-color
writing brush.
于是他就把笔还给了郭璞
Thus he returns it to Guo Pu.
从此以后
Ever since then,
江淹就再也写不出美妙的文章了
Jiang An has never written any
beautiful prose.
因此人们都说江郎的才华已经用尽了
That’s why people say “Jiang has
used up his talent”.
