勐景来过得可真是既快乐又充实啊
at Mengjinglai of Xishuang Banna.
说得是 我们不仅感受到了
Yes indeed. Not only did we experience

the typical customs and scenery
of the ethnic Dai,
我还多学了一门手艺呢
we also learned a skill.

西双版纳勐景来景区
The Mengjinglai Scenic Area of
Xishuang Banna
是一个集少数民族 宗教文化
is a comprehensive eco-tourist area
农耕文化和边境探险为主题的
featuring ethnic minorities, religion,
综合性生态旅游景区
agriculture and border explorations.
景区距打洛口岸约五公里
The Daluo Port lies about five kilometers
东临缅甸
west of Myanmar.

It is exactly the Happy Idiom we
are going to learn today.
从前有一个下棋能手名叫弈秋
Once upon a time, there was a skilled
chess player, called Yi Qiu.
他的棋艺非常高超
His chess skill is superb.
有两个人拜弈秋为师
Two men come to request him to
accept Them as his disciples.
一起跟他学习下棋
They want to learn chess from him.
一个学生非常仔细认真
One student is very serious
一心一意地听弈秋的讲解和分析
and listens to Yi Qiu’s explanation attentively.
对旁边的事全都不加理会
He pays no attention to what’s
going on around.
而另一个学生呢
And the other student?
虽然也坐在那里
Although he is also sitting there,
但实际上却心不在焉
he looks absent-minded all the time,
眼睛总是往窗外看
always looking out the window.
当他发现有几只天鹅飞过的时候
When he sees a few swans flying past,
便想 要是能有一张弓
he thinks to himself: “If I had a bow
几支箭 射下一只天鹅煮来吃
and a couple of arrows, I might shoot
down one swan to cook and eat.
那该有好多啊
That’d be wonderful!”
他就这样想啊想
He just keeps thinking and thinking
直到弈秋全都讲完了
until Yi Qiu finishes the class.
他也没在意
He pays no attention to what the
teacher says.
这时 弈秋叫两个学生对下一局
Then, Yi Qiu asks the two students
to play a chess match.
起先
At first,
那个开小差的学生还能勉强应付
that absent-minded student can
manage with difficulty.
可渐渐地就招架不住了
But gradually, he can no longer
hold on.
而那个认真听讲的学生呢
The student who listened attentively
攻守从容有序
attacks and defends all in an
orderly manner.
很快就赢下了这一盘
Soon he wins the match.
弈秋见状
Seeing this, Yi Qiu
语重心长地对这个学生说
says to his student in earnest:
虽然下棋只是一种小小的技艺
“Playing chess is a small skill.
但如果不专心致志地学习
