Fresh after grabbing first place during the men’s 110-meter hurdles competition staged in Reims, France, French athlete Ladji Doucouré is training intensely for the 2008 Olympiad.
At the July 8 race, Doucouré was clocked at 13.52 seconds.
Doucouré’s performance in Reims was the hurdler’s recent best since he reappeared at a meeting in France in mid-June after being hurt earlier this year.
The French racer has been plagued by injuries since he beat four-time world champion Allen Johnson and Chinese star Liu Xiang at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, staged in Helsinki, to take the crown for the 110-meter hurdles.
After suffering another injury at an invitational this January, Doucouré missed the competition at the World Indoor Championships in Lille in March due to pain in his left knee, according to a report published on the official website of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAFF).
The 25-year-old Doucouré is now speeding up his training for the Summer Olympics in Beijing. He is also slated to join the IAAF Golden League race in Rome on July 11, where Doucouré will compete against the current world record holder, Dayron Robles of Cuba.
