This week,
我们的车队从山东省日照市市区出发
our caravan set off from Rizhao
of Shandong
经过莒县
Province and arrived in
Lianyungang of Jiangsu
进入了江苏省连云港市
through Juxian County.
看过独具特色的港口之后
After seeing this characteristic
port city,
我们本周的行程在海州县结束
we concluded our journey for
this week in Haizhou County.
先说说日照吧
Now first a few words about Rizhao.
我们在市区里
In this coastal city,
看到了这座海滨城市的美丽风光
we saw its beautiful scenery.
在莒县 则感受到了这里
In Juxian County, we were amazed
悠久的历史和灿烂的文化
at its long history and brilliance culture.

to expand his territory.
一天 驻守在郑国的秦国将军
One day, Qin General Qi Zi, stationed
in the State of Zheng,
杞子写了一封密报给秦王
writes a confidential letter to
the King of Qin,
建议派兵偷袭郑国
suggesting dispatching troops to
launch a surprise attack on Zheng.
而自己已经在郑国做好了内应
He says he is ready to respond
from within Zheng.
秦王一听
Upon this message,
立即派兵前去攻打郑国
the King of Qin dispatches troops
immediately to attack Zheng.
不料
But to his surprise,
郑国的探子途中也得到了这个消息
A Zheng spy learns of the news
on his way to Qin.
探子一边稳住秦军
While trying his best to keep
the Qin troops from advancing,
一边派人回郑国报信
the spy sends someone back
to Zheng to report the news.

“Your Majesty,
秦王派兵要偷袭我们郑国
the Qin King has dispatched troops to
launch a surprise attack on our country
并让杞子做内应
and he has Qi Zi as a coordinator
in our country.”

is doing!”
探子来到了杞子驻地
The spy arrives at Qi Zi’s residence.
发现杞子的部下有人在收拾行装
He finds Qi Zi’s subordinates
packing up outfits.
给马喂草料
Some are feeding horses
还有的人正在磨砺兵器
and some are sharpening weapons.
探子将这情况报告给了郑王
The spy reports all this back
to the Zheng King.
郑王想了想
Pondering the report, the Zheng King
就派人对杞子说
sends someone to tell Qi Zi:
你们秦国的人来接你了
“People from Qin came here
to take you back.
你们可以回自己的国家了
You may go back to your country now.”
唉 看来郑国已经知道我们的计划了
“What! It seems Zheng has already
known our plot.”
杞子知道阴谋已经败露
Qi Zi knows his conspiracy
has been uncovered.
于是放弃了偷袭郑国的行动
Qin thus aborts its surprise
attack on Zheng.
连夜逃回了秦国
Qi Zi flees back to Qin
that night.
厉兵秣马也称秣马厉兵
“Li bing mo ma” or “”mo ma li bing”,
指磨好刀枪 喂好战马
literally sharpening weapons
and feeding warhorses,
形容准备战斗
means to prepare for a combat,
现在泛指做事前
It is used metaphorically
先做好充分的准备工作
to mean to make all necessary preparations.
