本周我们离开了连云港
This week, after we left Lianyungang,
在盐城开始了我们的快乐旅程
we started our happy journey
in Yancheng.
将水利枢纽建成风景区

project into a tourist attraction
这在全国也是很少见到的
has been extremely rare in China.
但是滨海县却做得很成功
But Binhai County has succeeded
in doing so.

所以中国有很多跟鹤有关的成语
So there’re many crane-related
idioms in China.
是啊 我来中国没多久
Yeah. Soon after I came
to China,
就听说过一个
I heard of one.
鹤立鸡群
“He li ji qun”.
西晋时代 有个叫嵇绍的青年
During the Western Jin Dynasty,
there is a youth called Ji Shao.
他不仅才华出众 身材魁梧
He is not only talented,
but also strong-built
还仪表堂堂
and very handsome.
不论走到哪里 都非常引人注目
Wherever he goes, he catches
people’s attention.
邻居和朋友们都很喜欢他
All neighbors and friends like
him very much.
我昨天看到他走在街上
“Yesterday I saw him walking
on the street.
那高高的个头儿
Tall as he is,
就像是一只仙鹤立在鸡群里一样
he was just like a crane standing
among chickens.”
是啊 就是不知道他的品格
“Yes. Only I don’t know about
his personality.
是不是也很高尚呢
Is he also very noble?”
后来 晋惠帝司马仲继位
Later, Sima Zhong succeeds
as Emperor Jin Huidi
嵇绍担任侍中
and Ji Shao becomes his adviser.
对皇帝非常忠诚
Due to his loyal service,
他在皇帝身边供职 很受信任
he wins the emperor’s confidence.
当时皇室成员争权夺利 互相攻击
Members of the royal family attack
one another to seize power.
没过多久 国家便发生了内乱
Soon the country falls into
internal strife.
嵇绍在战斗中尽力保护皇帝
Ji Shao does his best to protect
the emperor.
不幸身中数箭
But unfortunately he is hit
by several arrows.
鲜血溅到了皇帝的战袍上
The blood splashes onto
the emperor’s battle robe.
最后重伤 不治身亡
Due to the deteriorating wound,
he dies before treatment.
战斗结束后
After the battle ends,
侍从要换掉沾上血迹的皇帝战袍
an attendant wants to take off the
emperor’s blood-stained robe.
皇帝阻止了他
But the emperor stops him.
留着这件战袍吧
“Let me keep this battle robe.
那上面沾的是嵇绍的鲜血
It has Ji Shao’s blood on it,
代表着他对我的一片衷心哪
which represents his loyalty
to me.”
后来 人们用“鹤立鸡群”来形容
Later, people have since used
“he li ji qun” to describe
嵇绍出众的仪表和高尚的品质
Ji Shao’s charisma and noble character.
“鹤立鸡群”这则成语原意是指
The idiom “he li ji qun” literally refers
仙鹤立在鸡群中
to a crane standing among chickens.
现在用来比喻仪表出众
Now it is used as a metaphor for
someone’s outstanding demeanor
或者品质和才能高于周围一般人
or his outstanding personality
and talent.
