Beijing Olympic – Jamaica qualifies fastest for Men’s 400m Hurdles semifinal

Markino Buckley of Jamaica has run the fastest time of round one in the Men’s 400m Hurdles preliminaries at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on Friday, August 15, at the National Stadium.

His personal best time of 48.65 seconds put him ahead of Angelo Taylor of the United States, who ran second fastest to qualify for the semifinals with a time of 48.67, while Danny McFarlane of Jamaica goes into the final ranked third, finishing in 48.86 seconds.

“I knew where it was going wrong, I fixed it. Now I’m ready to rock ‘n’ roll,” Taylor said after finishing first in heat two.

Despite the result of today’s preliminaries, every athlete will be out to prove their place in the semifinals. “I am predicting the ‘super bowl’ of Beijing,” Taylor said.

The semifinals of the Men’s 400m Hurdles will be held at the National Stadium on Saturday, August 16.
