Beijing Olympic – Women’s triple jumpers qualify
The Olympic Women’s Triple Jump qualifying round ended on the evening of August 15 at the National Stadium in Beijing. Twelve competitors will advance to the final.
Yargelis Savigne of Cuba was the longest qualifier with a leap of 14.99m, followed by Greece’s Hrysopiyi Devetzi who jumped 14.92m, and Victoria Gurova of Russia was the third qualifier with 14.78m.
The world record in this event was set by Inessa Kravets of Ukraine with a leap of 15.50m in August, 1995. The Olympic record of 15.33m was also set by Inessa Kravets in July, 1996.
