Lili: There is a traditional Chinese painting exhibition on at the art gallery. Would you like to go?
Mài kè: Dāng rán xiăng qù. Wŏ fēi cháng xĭ huān zhōng guó huà.
麦克: 当然想去。我非常喜欢中国画。
Mike: Of course! I like traditional Chinese painting very much.
Lì li: Wŏ hěn xīn shăng nĭ de yóu huà. Nĭ huà de fēi cháng hăo.
丽丽: 我很欣赏你的油画。你画得非常好。
Lili: I really like your oil painting. You paint very well.

Mike: Thanks. I am studying the Chinese ink and wash technique.

Lili: Who is your favorite Chinese painter?

麦克: 我最喜欢的中国画家是齐白石。他的作品很有特点。
Mike: My favorite Chinese painter is Qi Baishi. His works are very distinctive.

丽丽: 你正在学习人物画还是风景画?
Lili: Are you studying figure painting or landscape painting?
Mài kè: Dōu zāi xué. měi gè zhōu mò dōu qù měi shù xué yuàn shàng kè.
麦克: 都在学。我每个周末都去美术学院上课。
Mài kè: Both. I go to the school of fine arts at weekends.
Lì li: Xué huà de tóng shí yě xué xí zhōng guó shū fă ma?
丽丽: 学画的同时也学习中国书法吗?
Lili: Are you also studying Chinese calligraphy?
Mài kè: Shì de. Hái xué xí yŏu guān zhōng guó yìn zhāng de zhī shi.
麦克: 是的,还学习有关中国印章的知识。
Mike: Yes, and I am learning about Chinese seals.

(BEIJING, August 16) — Valeriy Borchin has clocked the fastest time to win gold in the Men’s 20km Walk at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Saturday, August 16.

His time of 1 hour 19:01 minutes put him ahead of Jefferson Perez of Ecuador with a 0.14 second lead.

“I never expected to win this medal. At the beginning, I was lagging behind. That was not my strategy,” said the gold medalist.

“I feel proud to have won this Gold medal for Russia. I feel my dream has come true,” he added.

The bronze medal goes to Jared Tallent of Australia who finished in 1 hour 19:42 minutes.

“Bronze is fantastic,” Tallent said, quite pleased with his achievement. “I was never expecting to be a medalist.”

Host China’s Wang Hao came in fourth with a personal best of 1 hour 19:47 minutes while reigning Olympic champion Ivano Brugnetti of Italy took fifth in 1 hour 19:51 minutes.
