Wednesday, October 14th, 2009Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei of Kenya has gone through to the final with a time of 1:57.28. Janeth is a 2007 World Champion and 2006 African Champion and will have a chance to win her first Olympic medal in the Women’s 800m finals.
Eighteen-year-old Pamela Jelimo, also from Kenya, bettered her preliminary time significantly, running into the final at 1:57.31, only 0.10 behind Busienei. Jelimo, favorite before the event started, is ranked-second in the world with a personal best of 1:54.97. The Women’s 800m final will be held August 18 in the National Stadium.
