湛江的遂溪县是中国著名的醒狮之乡

in the State of Song.

每天都习武练剑 锻炼身体
He practices wushu and swordsmanship
and exercises every day.
有一次 有一伙强盗到他家抢劫
Once, a group of robbers come
to plunder his home.
小宗悫毫不畏惧
But the young Zong Que
is not afraid.
凭着一身好功夫
Due to his excellent martial skills,
独自一人便打跑了强盗
he beats off the robbers
single-handedly.
宗悫啊
“Zong Que,
你小小年纪就有如此高强的武功
young as you are, so skilled
in martial arts.
将来有什么志向啊
What are your plans for
your future?”
这几个蟊贼不算什么
“Those ruffians were no match
for me!
我长大以后
When I grow up,
要乘着长风 破万里浪
I want to brave winds and waves.”

宗悫被皇帝任命为”振武将军”
Zong Que, appointed by the emperor
General of Prowess,
率兵南征临邑国
commands his troops for a southward
expedition to the State of Linyi.

The two armies meet and are

The enemy troops with elephants
at the head
很难对付
are hard to deal with.
迟迟不能取胜
and unlikely to be defeated soon.
宗悫稍加思索 想出一计
Zong Que ponders briefly and
thinks up a trick.
他命人制作了一批
Under his orders, a number
of dummy lions
巨大的狮子模型上阵迎敌
are made and sent to the frontline.
大象立刻吓得乱跑
The elephants are scared
away instantly.
宗悫乘胜追击
Zong Que follows up his victory
with a hot pursuit.
一直打到敌人的都城象林
His troops fight all the way into
the enemy capital Xianglin.
宗悫就这样凭着他的勇敢和机智
Thanks to his bravery and resourcefulness,
深得朝廷器重
the imperial court thinks highly
of him
不久 就被加封为左卫将军
and soon confers upon him the title
of General of the Left Army.
成语”乘风破浪”就来自这个典故
The idiom “cheng feng po lang” came
from this story.
比喻做事情不畏困难 奋勇向前
It is used metaphorically to means to fear
no hardship and advance courageously.
