(BEIJING, August 19) — Christine Ohuruogu of Great Britain won the gold medal in the Women’s 400m on August 19, at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Ohuruogu recorded a season’s best of 49.62 seconds to add the Olympic gold medal to the World Championships title she won in Osaka in 2007.

“I am just so proud of myself,” Ohuruogu said.

“You always have all these dreams about winning, but you never think your dreams will be reality. I just ran across the line, thinking, ‘I won!’,” she added.

Silver medalist Shericka Williams of Jamaica ran 49.69s for a personal best, ahead of Sanya Richards of the United States who settled for bronze with a time of 49.93s.

Russian trio of Yulia Gushchina, Anastasia Kapachinskaya and Tatiana Firova are ranked fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

The world record of 47.60 seconds was set by Germany‘s Marita Koch in 1985.

China Travel – Longhua Memorial Place for Revolutionary Martyrs

The Longhua Memorial Place for Revolutionary Martyrs rests on Longhua Road in Xuhui District, Shanghai City.

In March 1927, the KMT set up the Songhu (Songjiang River and Shanghai River) Garrison Command Department, used to imprison and murder communists and revolutionaries. During the next 10 years, the number of communists and revolutionaries imprisoned there topped 9,000, with over 800 killed. Among the victims were many leaders of the Communist Party of China, such as the famous Longhua 24 Martyrs: Lin Yunan, He Mengxiong, Long Dadao, Ouyang Li’an, and the Left-Wing Writers League Martyrs, including Li Qiushi, Rou Shi, Hu Yepin, Yin Fu and Feng Qiang.

The former sites of gatehouse, the male prison, the female prison, the water prison, the martial department and the like still remain at the memorial place.

1 Immigration formalities

2 Notices from the airport to the school
 The most convenient way is to take a taxi, which is available at the main entrance of airport terminal one and two. The pricing measure is: 2.0 Yuan/ km (RMB), and please do not forget to request an invoice before getting off the taxi.
 Please pay attention to the reference price concerning the coverage from the airport to various schools by taxi, which is already listed by schools. In addition, if you suspect that there is a gross error between the authorized price and the actual price, please write down the license number and keep invoice for the sake of investigation of complaints.
 It is more economical to take the airport bus, which charges sixteen Yuan (RMB). Since the airport buses have numerous routes, it is advisory to consult the staff for the most appropriate lines based on the admission notice.
