Let’s learn Chinese with fun.
It’s much easier to remember.
Hi, there! I am the happy Daniel.
As a visitor in Jingdezhen,
I find so many things here related
with porcelain.
It does deserve to be the capital
of porcelain.
Today I’m taking you to see something
interesting.
Eh, where’s Han Jia?
You are asking about Han Jia?
She has been quite mysterious
the whole day.
An elusive character!
I don’t know where she’s gone either.
But that doesn’t matter. You have
me with you. Let’s go.
What do you think?
Even dances here are related
with porcelain.
Zài jǐngdézhèn, lián wǔdǎo dōu hé cíqì yǒu guānxi.
In Jingdezhen, even dances have a
connection with porcelain.
Just guess what dance it is.
It is needless to guess.
It’s Blue-and-White Porcelain Dance.
Exactly. Look at the costumes
of the dancers.
All are decorated with the blue
and white designs.
Who was talking just now?
Sounds so familiar!
What! Am I dazzled?
How much she looks like Han Jia!
Sure, it’s her!
She came here alone without telling.
It’s unfriendly of her to do so.
Daniel, who are you talking about?
I’m talking about you, my co-presenter!
You didn’t tell me anything in advance!
“gou yi si” is a colloquialism,
meaning to be friendly by
doing something.
“bu gou yi si” means not to be unfriendly
by doing something.
She is always trying to keep
us in the dark,
which is surely a bit “bu gou yi si”.
OK, now I’ll try to be “gou yi si”
by taking you all to see a performance,
which can be found only in Jingdezhen.
Sounds interesting.
Let’s go take a look.
Han Jia, what are you doing here?
Hush! The performance is
about to start.
The sound is so clear and melodic.
Of course, it’s melodic.
Did you forget
Jingdezhen porcelain can sound
as beautiful as a bell?
What? All the instruments are porcelain!
Of course, they are.
It is the first set of porcelain music
instruments in the world.
These porcelain instruments are a world first.
Are you enchanted by this
porcelain music?
Sure. The porcelain music is
so fantastic!
I’d like this musician to teach me.
你听。
Listen.
Isn’t it interesting?
We have to ask the professional
to judge it.
Ma’am, what do you think
of Daniel’s performance?
Daniel certainly shows some talent.
But he has to practice more.
But anyway,
I am worthy of being taught.
Do you know what the word “ru”
means here?
It seems … perhaps …
Let me tell you what it means.
“ru” refers to a child.
“ru zi ke jiao” means that
a promising young man
deserves to be taught some skills.
Rúzǐ kě jiào
a promising student
Daniel, we’ve got to go now.
Some people are waiting for us.
Really? Ma’am, bye now.
We’ll come to learn more from you
when we have time.
You’re welcome anytime.
Goodbye!
Bye-bye!
Han Jia, you said just now
some people are waiting for us.
But why I didn’t see a single soul here?
Look, they are coming.
Hi, you little guys!
Hi, Han Jia!
Han Jia, what’s the matter?
I don’t know any of them.
These little girls are the lovely
porcelain dolls of Jingdezhen.
I’ve certainly heard of porcelain dolls.
But I believe they are a kind of
handicraft objects.
The porcelain dolls we usually
talk about
are indeed a kind of handicraft objects.
But here in Jingdezhen,
people also call these young girls’
special dance
Porcelain Dolls.
Young friends, are you ready?
Yes, we are.
Now we’d like to see your
performance now. Come on!
They are lovely girls with porcelain
bells dangling under their belts.
They are porcelain dolls of Jingdezhen.
Porcelain music is another creation
of Jingdezhen people.
These porcelain instruments can produce
enthralling music like chimes.
The elegant blue-and-white porcelain plates
as well as the dancers’ graceful postures
are the unique charms of the
Blue-and-White Dance.
The spinning and dancing
make people fall in reverie.
What a good time they are having!
We’d better take this time
to set a question for our audience.
There are still many surprises
awaiting you!
Little friend, why are you here?
What a bright girl!
I also know your slogan-
Learn Chinese and have friends everywhere!
