The Beijing Olympic co-host city of Qingdao put into operation 20 barrier-free taxis in an effort to provide best services to disabled people.
According to a source, a switch has been installed on the co-driver seat. On turning on the switch, the co-driver seat will automatically rotate between 90 degrees and 105 degrees, which will help disabled people sit and get off the taxi conveniently.
The prices of the 20 special taxis will not be higher than those of ordinary ones. They will be put into operation before the 2008 Olympic Games. At the Games time, they will serve as the etiquette taxis.
