A variety of concerts, dramas and Peking operas were staged during the week-long Lunar New Holiday, attracting more than 110,000 people.

City-level troupes travelled to six suburbs, including Shunyi and Pinggu, to perform classical plays for locals.

A series of performances were given during the Spring Festival in an effort to solicit donations for snow-hit regions across the nation. Hundreds of thousands of charitable funds were sought and donated to the people affected by the ravaging snowstorms.

Migrant workers unable to go home for family reunion because of delayed transport caused by snowstorms were not ignored and were attracted by a variety of activities, such as temple and lamp fairs.

Olympic-themed temple fairs and parades were held during the holiday in an effort to spread the Olympic spirit and stimulate local people’s passion for the upcoming Olympics, which is a strong manifestation of the “People’s Olympics.”
